We have all heard about probiotics and the benefits to the intestinal tract it provides. Probiotics are the microorganism / bacteria inside our gut. Well prebiotics are what these gut bugs eat. And if we are to maintain a healthy gut we have to feed the bugs.

There are over 500 species of bacteria living inside our intestinal tract. Some are good and some are bad but they all serve a purpose. One of the most delicious balancing actions is the one done daily inside our gut. The good bacteria are charged with keeping the bad bacteria's numbers to a minimum. This is not to say that if you have an infection that you should ignore it but even doctors are now suggesting that their patients on antibiotics follow it up with a probiotic supplement. And once you take the probiotics you will need the prebiotics to keep them healthy and growing strong.
